
Urgent call for sponsorship with deadline of Friday 13 December 2024
AFSA is pleased to announce that we have received a substantial donation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to cover membership fees for AFSA members and new applicants. We are grateful to the ICRC for this donation and express our gratitude for the difference it will make in the AFSA network.
Please note below how the donated funds will benefit current members and new membership applicants for AFSA membership. This applies to all categories of membership. Please see the link for membership applications below.
1. Current members - paid up for current year (thus until 30 June 2025)
Membership fees that are due for the next year from 01 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.
Note that current members will only be considered to benefit from this donation if they have already submitted all the necessary documents, or if they submit it by Friday, 13 December 2024.
2. Current members - not yet paid up for current year (thus until 30 June 2025)
With membership fees outstanding for the current cycle: 01 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.
Thus for 12 months, with membership starting on 01 July 2024.
Note that current members will only be considered to benefit from this donation if they have already submitted all the necessary documents, or if they submit it by Friday, 13 December 2024.
3. New applicants
With dues outstanding from application date this week to June 2025.
This will be on a pro-rata basis for the next 6 months, thus membership starting on the date of application (for this call).
Note that new applications for membership only be considered to benefit from this donation if they submit all the necessary documents by Friday, 13 December 2024.
Depending on the remaining funds new applicants may also be considered to benefit from this donation for the next financial year (from 01 July 2025 to 30 June 2026).
Nobody currently serving on the AFSA Board or anyone from the donating institution will be allowed to benefit from this donation.
4. Please note the following for all the above categories (1-3):
The decision of how the donated funds will be allocated will be made by the AFSA Board.
The decision by the AFSA Board will be final.
The following will be taken in account for by the AFSA Board for this decision process:
Professionals from low and middle income countries in Africa will be prioritised.
Applications will be prioritised in the following order:
Full membership and student membership.
Associate membership of young forensic science professionals.
Other Associate membership applications.

Note that this opportunity is unique, and that it expires at the close of business (thus 15:00 at UTC+2), on Friday 13 December 2024. This call is thus open only for this current week. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application to benefit from this donation at the latest on Friday 10 January 2025.
